They say the mind thrives in the absence of life
And clings with flailing movements to the edges of reality
Nostrils can no longer sense the decomposition
Of the residual remaining flesh
No life behind the whites of the eyes
And yet the cogs keep turning
The brain keeps whirring
The heart no longer yearning
The fear inside is burning
For the limbo state to cease
The mind lives on in self-aware agony
Envisage life ebbing away
Path carved for the maggots conquest
Devour the flesh to nothing
Feeding on that which you cling to
A withered shell, a rotting husk
Yet the mind lives on
In a perpetual state of ensuing madness
To come to terms with the forms fragility
A weakened growth
Life shut down with coffin nails
Lungs fit to burst with soil
Stomach unleashed upon this earth
Fertilise this world anew
Who knew of this closing call?
This godless eternity?
This parade of ravenous creatures
Feed on the death's provided carcass
The cadaver cannot withstand the aging torment
The soul crawls on untouched unharmed
No life behind the whites of the eyes
And yet the cogs keep turning
The brain keeps whirring
The heart no longer yearning
The fear inside is burning
For the limbo state to cease
The mind lives on in self-aware agony
Envisage life ebbing away
Condemned for the rest of time
To gaze upon the casket lid
Until the brain wilts and fades away
No revelation could bring preparation for this unseen close
There is no philosophical backdrop
There is no salvation in afterlife
Oh lord and master grant forgiveness
From this forsaken pitfall
The thoughts of loved ones fade away
With the physical form of the conscious
Dissociated from reality
Of the decaying soul enclosed
Cannot breathe the dust and ash
The vitals no longer function
The transcendental process is a living hell
Corporeally dissonant from this worldly plain
Left to watch the flesh rotting away
To feel no pain yet view the agonising torture
Path carved for the maggots conquest
Devour the flesh to nothing
Feeding on that which you cling to
A withered shell, a rotting husk
Yet the mind lives on
In a perpetual state of ensuing madness
To come to terms with the forms fragility
A parasitic deformation
This flesh has become a tomb
The skeleton is now a jail cell
Captured within a fractured body
To wilt and deflesh among ones fluids
Death would bring relief to a broken form
Bring peace to purgatory
To make the next step towards rebirth
To close down the sight once and for all
No life behind the whites of the eyes
And yet the cogs keep turning
The brain keeps whirring
The heart no longer yearning
The fear inside is burning
For the limbo state to cease
The mind lives on in self-aware agony
Envisage life bleeding away
Path carved for the maggots conquest
Devour the flesh to nothing
Feeding on that which you cling to
A withered shell, a rotting husk
Yet the mind lives on
In a perpetual state of ensuing madness
To come to terms with the forms fragility
A parasitic deformation

A beautiful journey from start to finish, with perfectly placed moments of gentility amidst the rhythmic intrigue and blast beats of their guest drummer. jsteadmanfan

Magistral ! Jordan Vauvert

Highest-quality-metal!
Imagine Cynic having a baby with Dream Theater, Devin Townsend, Atheist and Joe Satriani!
And now imagine this and add fantastic songwriting!
Ok.
Now you got it, don't you? RATMAN
